Khusanov’s misstep: City and Brighton share points (video)

15047In the 29th round of the English Premier League, Manchester City hosted Brighton at home and finished with a 2-2 draw. Uzbek footballer Abdukodir Khusanov, playing for Manchester City, inadvertently scored an own goal in the 48th minute.
Khusanov started the match in the main lineup. Early on, Erling Haaland converted a penalty in the 11th minute, giving City a 1-0 lead. However, Brighton defender Estupinyan equalized with a stunning free-kick. Just before halftime, Omar Marmoush restored City’s lead with a goal. Early in the second half, a strike from Hinshelwood deflected off Khusanov into his net, leveling the match at 2-2. Neither team could break the deadlock for the remainder of the game.
As a result, Manchester City increased their points tally to 48 and held onto 5th place in the standings. Brighton, with their draw, now sits in 7th place with 47 points.
