At a videoconference chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on September 9, it was announced that regional and district governors have been given until November 1 of this year to repair and equip classrooms in 118 kindergartens, as well as to fully commission eight others.
It was stated that this year, it is planned to create an additional 182,000 kindergarten places, of which 82,000 will come from newly built facilities.
District governors were criticized for failing to plan how the remaining places would be created. For example, 255 classrooms in 118 kindergartens remain idle because they require repairs. In some areas, the construction and renovation of eight kindergartens have been delayed for two to three years. In particular, kindergartens in Chimboy, Gallaorol, Kizirik, and Boysun have yet to be renovated, while new facilities in Dehkanabad, Sariosiyo, Bostanlyk, and Nurafshan have not been completed.
Governors were warned that failure to complete the renovation and commissioning of these facilities by November 1 would result in appropriate measures being taken against them.
It is worth noting that earlier, it was established that preschool enrollment in every district of Uzbekistan must not fall below 80 percent. To achieve this, regional and district governors were tasked with identifying vacant plots and putting them up for auction, as well as, together with the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, developing a plan for building kindergartens wherever space is available in schools or preschools.
