The National Medical Commission (NMC) of India has issued a strict warning to medical aspirants, advising them not to seek admission to three medical colleges in Central America and one in Uzbekistan, The New Indian Express reported.
According to the statement, students who ignore the warning will not be allowed to practice medicine in India.
The medical institutions listed in the warning include:
Central American Health and Sciences University, Belize
Columbus Central University, Belize
Washington University of Health and Sciences, Belize
Tashkent State Medical University, Chirchik Branch, Uzbekistan
The warning was issued following serious concerns raised by the Indian Embassy in Mexico and the Eurasian Department of the Ministry of External Affairs. These institutions reportedly do not meet the standards required by India for medical education.
“Prospective students and their parents should read the notification carefully before enrolling in any medical university abroad,” the statement said.
The notification highlights that the listed universities lack proper infrastructure, provide poor quality education, and fail to organize adequate clinical practice. There have also been reports of harassment of Indian students, excessive fees, and refusal to refund fees upon withdrawal from courses.
As a result, the NMC strongly urged students to refrain from enrolling in these institutions.
