In Jizzakh, a father stabbed his son's throat, leading to the initiation of a criminal case against him

In Jizzakh, a man enraged his wife, who works in Korea, by stabbing their child's throat during a video call. The Human Rights Representative (ombudsman) of the Oliy Majlis reported that a criminal case was launched against him.

A resident of the Jizzakh region, identified as B.O., reached out to the Ombudsman about his grandson being subjected to pressure and violence from his father. According to the petitioner, B.O.'s daughter, K.S., has been working in Korea since 2022, leaving her 8-year-old son in the care of her husband. The attached video to the petition depicts the father stabbing his son's throat during a heated argument over a video call.

The Ombudsman promptly took action upon receiving the appeal, collaborating with its regional representative in Jizzakh and the office of the National Social Protection Agency. Investigation on-site revealed that the minor son of citizen K.S. is now living with his grandmother. During the child's interview, he expressed dissatisfaction with the strained relationship between his parents, expressing a desire not to live with his father and to remain with his grandmother. Consequently, the grandmother was appointed as the temporary guardian of the minor son of citizen K.S.

"A criminal case has been initiated against the father for his actions against his minor child under Article 112, Part 1 (Intimidation with killing or use of force) of the Criminal Code," stated the report.
