Father in Jizzakh was sent to forced labor for non-payment of alimony

4632In Jizzakh, a man who failed to pay over 9 million soums in alimony has been sentenced to forced labor, according to the Enforcement Bureau.
According to a May 10, 2023, ruling from the Jizzakh Interdistrict Court of Civil Affairs, an order was issued for the collection of alimony for the maintenance of one minor child from debtor M.A. However, despite enforcement efforts, M.A. failed to pay the required alimony, accruing arrears totaling 9,041,926 soums.
Under Article 47, paragraph 4 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility (evasion of providing material support for minors or persons incapable of work), an administrative case was initiated. It was sent to the Jizzakh City Court for criminal cases.
On September 23 of this year, the Jizzakh City Court found M.A. guilty of violating this article and sentenced him to 120 hours of forced labor.
It is worth noting that earlier in Fergana, a father who had been evading alimony payments for 10 years was apprehended. A search warrant had been issued against him in January 2022 after he fled to avoid paying alimony. Investigations revealed that the man left for Russia in February 2014.
In Tashkent, another father prepaid 16 years’ worth of alimony. The total sum of alimony for the period from 2024 to 2040 amounted to 818,895,193 soums. The debtor paid this amount, along with one house, a Spark vehicle, and $2,000 USD, to the debt collector.
