In Jizzakh Region, an employee of “Hududgaz” was caught accepting a $6,000 bribe, the State Security Service reported.

According to the report, the lead specialist of the Jizzakh branch of “Hududgaz” discovered during an inspection at a local LLC that a faulty gas metering device was being used and prepared a corresponding report. However, he allegedly abused his position, demanding $6,000 from the company representative in exchange for canceling the report and preventing the Economic Crimes Department of Jizzakh from opening a criminal case.

Security officers detained the specialist with the bribe money outside the “Hududgaz Jizzakh” office, with physical evidence collected at the scene.

Laboratory tests confirmed that the gas meter had malfunctioned due to technical issues and was not tampered with externally. A criminal case has been initiated against the employee under Article 168, Part 3, Clause “v” (Fraud) and Article 211, Part 1 (Bribery) of the Criminal Code.

During preliminary investigative actions, authorities also clarified the identity of the specialist’s “acquaintance” and have initiated an internal service investigation regarding that individual.

Previously, in Syrdarya Region, a lawyer was accused of demanding $5,500 to influence the outcome of a criminal case in favor of the client.
