About 3,000 documents from the state archives are handed over to waste paper in the Jizzakh region

Some of the documents stored in the state archive in the Jizzakh region are reported to have been handed over as waste paper.  The collected documents in this situation have been sent to the Prosecutor’s Office of the Jizzakh region for legal evaluation.  This is reported by the agency “O’zarxiv” (UzArchive).

It is noted that, on 7 May of the current year, documents kept in the state archive of the Jizzakh region (oblast) were declared missing.

The documents which were illegally confiscated from the reserve of state archive of Jizzakh region and 2660 copies of legal documents were returned from the enterprise for the collection, preparation, and processing of secondary waste paper which is situated in Sharof Rashidov district of Jizzakh region.

The Jizzakh regional state archive is currently conducting a full verification of the availability and situation of extraordinary archival documents.  The video surveillance cameras of the archive building have also been put into operation.

In addition, the working group of the Agency «O’zarxiv» conducted a service audit of the state archive of the Jizzakh region.  The documents collected as a result of the investigation have been sent to the Prosecutor’s Office of the Jizzakh region for legal evaluation.

The Office of the Prosecutor of the Jizzakh region and the Jizzakh Regional departments of internal affairs is investigating the case.  Further details on the case will be provided by the agency.
