Court sentence was read to former Deputy Qabul Dusov for insulting Deputy Minister

On November 22, the Chilonzor District Court announced its verdict in the criminal case against former deputy Qabul Dusov. The trial was presided over by Judge Sarvar Mamadiev, with the press secretary of the Supreme Court, Aziz Obidov, providing information on the proceedings.  

The court found Dusov guilty of a crime under Part 3, Paragraph "a" of Article 140 (Insult) of the Criminal Code. The charges were based on the testimony of the victim, Deputy Minister of Preschool and School Education Farkhod Bakiev, along with evidence including witness statements, forensic linguistic examinations, and digital evidence from Dosov’s Facebook and Telegram accounts.  

Dusov was sentenced to 'one year of restricted liberty'. Under Article 48-1 of the Criminal Code, his sentence includes:  
- A curfew from 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.  
- A ban on using the internet.  
- Prohibition from participating in public or other events.  
- Monthly registration with the Probation Department at his place of residence.  
- Restrictions on changing his place of residence without prior approval from supervising authorities.  

The court also noted that affected parties in the case have the right to file a civil lawsuit to claim compensation for material and moral damages caused by Dosov’s actions.  

This case highlights the enforcement of accountability for public figures in Uzbekistan.
