Arbitrary keeping of wild and poisonous animals is prohibited

In Uzbekistan, it is prohibited from keeping wild and poisonous animals without a special permit.  This is defined in the draft law “On amendments and additions to the law on the protection and treatment of the animal world”.

According to the list approved by the Cabinet of Ministers, it is prohibited from arbitrarily keeping wild predators and poisonous animals by legal entities and individuals without special certificates issued by the State Committee on Ecology and Environmental Protection.

As well as keeping wild animals recorded in the “Red Book” of Uzbekistan, in semi-free conditions, in artificial habitats, or in captivity in special nurseries, organized in agreement with the Academy of Sciences.   In addition to keeping wild and poisonous animals in zoos, terrariums, circuses, oceanariums, dolphinariums, natural nurseries, in scientific and educational organizations for scientific and educational purposes by legal entities is determined only on the basis of a certificate issued by the State Committee for Ecology and Environmental Protection.

The draft law was considered at the first reading at the regular session of the Ecologic Party of Uzbekistan in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis (Parliament) on 29 August.

The faction’s proposals and opinions on the draft law were expressed and conceptually supported in the first reading.
