The European Union's Commissioner for Agriculture, Janusz Wojciechowski, will visit Uzbekistan on September 5-6, 2024, as reported by the EU mission in Uzbekistan.

"This visit underscores the European Union's commitment to strengthening cooperation with Uzbekistan and the region as a whole," the report states.

During his visit, Commissioner Wojciechowski will deliver a speech at the opening ceremony of the international forum on "Landlocked Developing Countries: Food Security and Sustainable Development Goals." In his address, he will highlight the EU's ongoing efforts to support sustainable agricultural management and food security, particularly in landlocked developing countries.

In addition to participating in the forum, Commissioner Wojciechowski will hold bilateral meetings with government representatives, including the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ibrahim Abdurahmanov. These meetings will provide an opportunity to discuss expanding cooperation in agriculture, exploring trade prospects, and promoting sustainable agricultural initiatives.

"Special attention will be given to areas of mutual interest, which will further deepen the relationship between the European Union and Uzbekistan in agriculture and other sectors," the report adds.

It’s worth noting that at the end of last year, the EU's Special Representative for Sanctions, David O'Sullivan, visited Uzbekistan. He also visited Kazakhstan in June this year. On August 1, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and Vice President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, arrived in Kazakhstan.
