In the Fergana region, a desert falcon (shaheen) was found to be illegally kept and put up for sale. This information was reported by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change.

According to the report, the Regional Department of Ecology, the Internal Affairs Department, and the Regional Prosecutor's Office took measures to stop the violation, resulting in the arrest of a citizen named I.I.

For context, the desert falcon belongs to the falcon family and is listed in the Red Book of Uzbekistan. According to Annex 14 of Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 290 dated October 20, 2014, illegal removal of the species from nature incurs a penalty of 1,500 times the base calculation amount (562 million 500 thousand UZS). Since the damage amount exceeds 300 times the base calculation amount, the case is being criminally handled by law enforcement agencies.

Earlier, in February of this year, a resident of the Sirdaryo region was fined 1 million 875 thousand UZS for illegally keeping an eagle listed in the Red Book.
