Uzhydromet issues urgent weather warning: risk of mudslides and floods

The Center of Hydrometeorological Service of Uzbekistan (Uzhydromet) has issued an urgent warning regarding the increased risk of mudslides and floods in mountainous and foothill areas of the country due to expected rainfall on May 1–2.
The warning highlights potential threats in the following regions:
Kashkadarya region: Yakkabag, Dehkanabad, Chirakchi, Kitab, Shakhrisabz, Kamashi, and Guzar districts;
Surkhandarya region: Sariosiyo, Uzun, Oltinsoy, Denov, Boysun, Sherobod, Shorchi, Kumkurgan, and Muzrabod districts;
Samarkand region: Urgut, Samarkand, Bulungur, Nurabad, Kushrabot, Kattakurgan, Payarik, Jambay, and Ishtikhan districts;
Jizzakh region: Zomin, Bakhmal, Gallaorol, Sharof Rashidov, Forish, and Yangiabad districts;
Tashkent region: Ahangaran, Bostanlyk, Parkent, Piskent, Ortachirchik, Yukarichirchik districts, and the cities of Angren and Almalyk;
Namangan region: Pop, Kosonsoy, Chartak, Chust, Namangan, and Yangikurgan districts;
Fergana region: Sokh, Shohimardon, Fergana, and Besharik districts;
Andijan region: Andijan, Asaka, Jalakuduk, Kurgantepa, Pakhtaabad, Izboskan, Khojaabad, Markhamat districts, and the city of Khanabad.
Uzhydromet urges residents of mountainous areas, tourists, and drivers traveling through these regions to exercise caution and take necessary preventive measures.
Additionally, there is a possibility of rainwater accumulation in some areas, which may lead to localized flooding.
It should be noted that in a recent incident in Tashkent’s Mirabad district, a tree fell onto a vehicle due to strong winds. The Ministry of Emergency Situations has since warned the public of the risk of strong gusts and advised citizens to take appropriate precautions.
