Uzbekistan's gold and currency reserves decrease by almost $1 billion

As of 1August of the current year, the gross international reserves of the Republic of Uzbekistan amounted to 34 billion and 607.3 million dollars.  This is $976.2 million less than in July.  This was reported by the Central Bank.

The physical balance of gold in reserves is 12 million troy ounces.  Its financial value declined from $21 billion 200 million to $21 billion 78.6 million.

Reserve assets in foreign currency (in freely convertible foreign currency) declined from $13.3 billion to $12.47 billion.

International reserves consist of foreign currency, special borrowing rights, International Monetary Fund reserve position, and gold.  Foreign currency mainly includes cash held in banks.

For reference, the gross international reserves of the Republic of Uzbekistan since the beginning of 2022 have declined by $ 531.9 million, or a decrease of 1.5 percent.  The impact of the drop in the price of gold from $1,799.25 to $1,758.90 at the beginning of the year amounted to $483.6 million.
