The Consul General of Uzbekistan in New York is appointed

Jamil Sharapov, the newly appointed Consul General of Uzbekistan in New York, has commenced his duties, as reported by the "Dunyo" news agency. Sharapov is a graduate of the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies (now Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies). Prior to his assignment in New York, he held various positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Institute of Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan.


Jamil Sharapov succeeds Kamal Ikramov, who served as the head of the Consulate General in New York from 2018 to 2023.


The consular district of the Consulate General includes the following states and administrative territories of the USA: Idaho, Iowa, Alaska, Arizona, Wyoming, Washington, Vermont, Virgin Islands, Wisconsin, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, California, Kansas, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Michigan, Montana, Maine, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, New Mexico, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Mexico, and Latin American countries (excluding Cuba and Brazil, as these countries fall under the consular district of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Washington).


It is worth noting that the first consul general of Uzbekistan was previously appointed to Osh, Kyrgyzstan.
