Heavy rains expected to trigger flood risks in Uzbekistan

5236From March 23 to 27, heavy rains are expected to cause potential flash floods in the foothill and mountainous areas of Uzbekistan. This warning was issued by the Hydrometeorological Service.
The following areas are identified as being at risk of flash floods:
- Kashqadarya Region: Yakkabog, Dehkanobod, Chirakchi, Kitob, Shakhrisabz, Kamashi, Guzor districts.
- Surkhandarya Region: Sariosiyo, Uzun, Oltinsoy, Denov, Boysun, Sherobod, Shorchi, Qumqorgon, Muzrobod districts.
- Samarkand Region: Urgut, Samarkand, Bulungur, Nurobod, Qo‘shrabot, Kattakurgon, Payarik, Jomboy, Ishtikhon districts.
- Navoi Region: Khatirchi, Navbahor, Nurota, Konimekh, Karmana districts.
- Jizzakh Region: Zomin, Bakhmal, Gallaorol, Sharof Rashidov, Forish, Yangiobod districts.
- Tashkent Region: Ohangaron, Bostonlik, Parkent, Piskent, Urtachirchik, Yukorichirchik districts, and Angren, Olmalik cities.
- Namangan Region: Pop, Kosonsoy, Chortok, Chust, Namangan, Yangiqorgon districts.
- Fergana Region: Sox, Shohimardon, Fergana, Besharik districts.
- Andijan Region: Andijan, Asaka, Jalakuduk, Qorgontepa, Pakhtaobod, Izboskan, Khojaobod, Marhamat districts, and Khonobod city.
Residents, tourists, and drivers in these areas are urged to take necessary precautions. The accumulation of rainwater across the country may lead to flooding in certain areas.
