Uzbek Judo Athlete Secures Gold Medal at International Competition

Dushanbe, Tajikistan - The Judo Grand Prix tournament, boasting a substantial prize pool of 100,000 euros, is currently underway in the capital city of Tajikistan.  On the second day of the competition, Shukurjon Aminova, representing Uzbekistan, emerged as the victor, securing the gold medal.

Uzbekistan showcased an impressive start to the tournament by fielding a formidable team. In the -52kg weight category, Aminova exhibited exceptional skills, triumphing over all her opponents and claiming the coveted gold medal on the 2nd of June. 

Aminova's remarkable achievement not only earned her 700 points in the world ranking, but also secured her 350 points towards qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

During the award ceremony, Armen Bagdasarov, the director of the International Judo Federation's Jury and a native of Uzbekistan, presented Aminova with the well-deserved gold medal.

As the competition progresses, eight Uzbek judokas are poised to compete for medals and vital rating points in their pursuit of a spot at the Paris 2024 Olympics on the 3rd of June.

With the conclusion of the first day's events, Uzbekistan currently holds an impressive second position among the 40 participating countries, courtesy of Aminova's gold medal triumph.  This early success positions Uzbekistan as a contender for further achievements and highlights the nation's prowess in international judo.

The ongoing Judo Grand Prix not only provides a platform for athletes to showcase their exceptional skills, but also offers an opportunity for Uzbekistan's judo team to gain valuable experience and enhance their standing within the global judo community.
