Starting May 1, 2025, new norms for duty-free imports of goods for personal use by individuals will come into effect in Uzbekistan. These changes were detailed in a resolution passed by the Cabinet of Ministers on April 19, 2025, titled “On Measures to Further Improve the Procedure for Importing Certain Types of Goods Across Customs Borders.”

According to the resolution, duty-free import limits for goods brought into the country for personal use and non-commercial purposes have been established as follows:

  • Air transport: $1,000 (previously $2,000).
  • Railway and river transport: $500 (previously $1,000).
  • Automobile checkpoints (on foot or by vehicle): $300.
  • International courier shipments: $200 per quarter (previously $1,000 per quarter).
  • International postal shipments: $100 (unchanged).

Additionally, the following conditions apply:

  • For goods imported via railway, river transport, or automobile checkpoints, duty-free limits will not apply if the individual has stayed abroad for less than two days.
  • For goods transported by air, duty-free limits will not apply if the individual has been abroad for less than three days.
  • In such cases, the goods will be considered over the duty-free limit, and a single customs duty will be charged on the total value.

These measures aim to regulate imports and ensure more efficient management of goods crossing the country’s customs borders.
