Inflation felt by the population in March indicated 2.6 percentage points higher than in February, amounting to 15.7 percent. This is stated in the report of the Central Bank «The level of inflation and perceived inflation by income of the population ».

It was noted that the majority of the population experienced an increase in the prices of sugar and confectionery, oil, meat and dairy products in March, while the increase in the prices of cereals, medical services and beverages was less noticeable.

In the fields of medicine, trade, construction and public administration, the representatives of those fields suffered higher inflation than in other sectors. At the same time, inflation in agriculture and catering was lower than in general.

The inflation rate was relatively high in the Syrdarya, Samarkand and Fergana regions, and relatively low in the Surkhandarya region and the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

In March, the acceleration of food inflation from 13.1% to 14.5% per annum in comparison with January has had a greater impact on the groups of households with an average per capita income of 2 million som and between 2-4 million som. At the same time, food inflation in these groups increased to 15.7 percent and 12 percent, respectively. Food inflation in the high-income groups (over 5 million som) was 8.6%.  This is due to the large share of expensive (food) goods in the expenditures of the relatively poor population, which makes them more aware of the rise in   prices," the report says.
