Earthquake in Uzbekistan

On August 8 at 08:58, a 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Republican Center for Seismological Monitoring reported.

According to the Center, the epicenter was located 268 kilometers southeast of Tashkent, in the Markhamat district of the Andijan region, at a depth of 15 kilometers. The earthquake’s coordinates were 40.55° north latitude and 72.26° east longitude. The intensity at the epicenter was recorded at 4 points.

The earthquake was felt in the following areas:

  •  Andijan region: 3 points, 29 km from the epicenter
  •  Fergana region: 2–3 points, 45 km from the epicenter
  •  Namangan region: 2 points, 72 km from the epicenter
