8181A new agency focused on waste management and the development of a circular economy will be established in Uzbekistan. This was outlined in the Presidential Decree titled "On Measures to Ensure Openness and Further Improve the Management System in the Fields of Ecology and Environmental Protection," adopted on September 26.
According to the decree, the Agency for Waste Management and Circular Economy Development will be created, replacing the Republican Center for the Organization of Sanitary Cleaning Works. The new agency will act as a link between the population and sanitation enterprises regarding waste management issues.
The agency will serve as the state authority responsible for developing, testing, and implementing unified norms and standards in the field of waste management. It will also coordinate activities in this area and oversee state property related to waste management.
Additionally, from March 1, 2025, new criteria for assessing the key performance indicators of sanitary cleaning enterprises will be approved.
