14805Uzbekistan will enhance its system to prevent the wasteful use of energy resources. This decision was outlined in the Presidential decree issued on April 1, titled “On Improving Measures to Prevent Illegal Use and Waste of Energy Resources and Enhance Energy Efficiency.”
The decree aims to save 2.5 billion kWh of electricity and 1.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas by transitioning consumers to alternative energy sources and installing energy-saving technologies. The key steps include:
- Encouraging consumers to use renewable energy devices, installing over 74,000 solar panels with a total capacity of 785 MW and more than 9,000 solar collectors with a combined capacity of 1.2 million liters. This is expected to save 1.6 billion kWh of electricity.
- Building small-capacity photovoltaic power stations exceeding 100 MW in over 300 socially vulnerable communities, resulting in savings of 45 million cubic meters of natural gas.
- Expanding the use of energy-efficient equipment in budget organizations to save 39 million cubic meters of natural gas.
In 2025, as part of accelerating the transition to a “green economy,” a program will be approved to install renewable energy devices, transition consumers to alternative energy sources, and introduce energy-saving and efficient technologies.
By May 1, 2025, the “Green Benefits” digital platform of the Energy Savings Fund under the Ministry of Energy will be integrated with relevant software of partner commercial banks.
Earlier, it was announced that the National Energy Efficiency Agency would be established under the Cabinet of Ministers. The agency’s main objectives include implementing a unified state policy on energy efficiency and developing regulatory and incentive measures to support this sector.
