The number of cybercrimes in Uzbekistan has risen sharply over the past three years.

There are more than 25 million internet users in Uzbekistan.  The results of the analysis show that today the country is experiencing a growing trend of cybercrime. This was announced at a press conference at the IMCA (Information and Mass Communications Agency) with the participation of officials of the Cyber Security Center under the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

It is noted that the number of cybercrimes has increased several times in the last 3 years.  In particular, there are several types of cybercrime.

They are as follows:

• embezzlement of SMS-notification codes by fraudsters sent to the plastic card users under the pretext of payment, winning, and stealing the funds in the cards;
• seizure of personal information and extortion (cybercrime) by threatening to disclose it;
• threatening on social networks, insulting, suicides (cyberbullying), etc.
