2910Sports in Uzbekistan whose potential is not being fully utilized have been announced. This was revealed today, February 13, at a videoconference meeting chaired by the President of Uzbekistan, Chairman of the National Olympic Committee Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
According to the President, not a single license has been obtained in badminton, while only 3 licenses have been secured in archery.
There are 48 programs in track and field at the Olympic Games. However, the Athletics Federation obtained only 5 licenses at the last Olympics.
Additionally, no licenses have been obtained in the shot put, discus, javelin throw, and diving sports. Out of 49 water sports programs, licenses were obtained for only 4.
Despite all the conditions created within the defense system and the "Vatanparvar" organization for the development of shooting sports, not a single athlete has qualified for the Olympics.
Although martial arts and national wrestling are developed in Uzbekistan, only 3 licenses have been obtained for Greco-Roman wrestling.
Last year, the World Kayaking and Canoeing Championships were held in Uzbekistan for the first time, but the hosts did not win a single medal.
It is worth noting that the President recently emphasized that complacency should not follow the results in Paris. He set the goal for Uzbekistan to enter the top ten at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, urging all responsible leaders and district governors to work hard to achieve this.
