Number of teachers in Uzbekistan’s schools revealed

At the beginning of the 2024–2025 academic year, the number of teachers working in general secondary education institutions in Uzbekistan amounted to 564,900, the State Statistics Committee reported.
It was stated that this figure represents an increase of 170,900 teachers, or 43.4 percent, compared to the beginning of the 2015–2016 academic year.
Women account for 71 percent of the total, or 401,300 teachers, while men make up 29 percent, or 163,600.
The number of teachers working in general secondary education institutions by year is as follows:
- Beginning of the 2015–2016 academic year – 385,000
- Beginning of the 2016–2017 academic year – 390,600
- Beginning of the 2017–2018 academic year – 409,400
- Beginning of the 2018–2019 academic year – 444,200
- Beginning of the 2019–2020 academic year – 486,600
- Beginning of the 2020–2021 academic year – 508,000
- Beginning of the 2021–2022 academic year – 510,000
- Beginning of the 2022–2023 academic year – 521,600
- Beginning of the 2023–2024 academic year – 547,800
- Beginning of the 2024–2025 academic year – 564,900
It is worth noting that earlier, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent congratulations on the occasion of October 1, Teachers and Mentors Day. The President emphasized that starting from 2026, ’’New generation’’ kindergartens, similar to Presidential schools, will be established in Karakalpakstan and all regions, where educators will be trained in advanced pedagogical technologies.
