In 2021, the crime rate for unemployed women, and women aged 18-30 in Uzbekistan increased by an average of 2 percent. Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoev stated this during a video conference on the measures to raise the support system for women to a new level and to further enhance and strengthen the role of women in society, as well as to strengthen their social protection, prevention of domestic violence and providing gender equality.
The Head of the State said that the Women’s Book listed more than 630,000 women, 200,000 of whom were unemployed.
In 2021, crime among unemployed women increased by 1.7 times, and crime among women aged 18-30 doubled.
In addition, women continue to be abused, insulted and harassed within the family.
In 2021, some 39,000 women reported to prevention inspectors that their husbands, mothers-in-law, and daughters-in-law abused them in their families. This is 2.5 times more than reported in 2020.
“Unfortunately, the role and influence of local activists, our community and the elder people in solving these problems are not felt.
We need to understand one thing for sure. «Studying, working or doing business while caring for a family and raising children requires great perseverance»,- said the President of Uzbekistan.
