Where do women face violence in Uzbekistan the most?

19529In 2021, just under 40,000 women were granted a protection order, of which more than 34,000 had been the victim of domestic violence. This was announced at a press conference of Information and Mass Communications Agency (IMCA) on the topic of «Measures to further accelerate the work on systematical support of family and women».
In the past year, 39,343 complaints of harassment and violence against women were received by law enforcement agencies.
Of these, 39,343 were given Protection Orders. In particular, 378 were issued to minors, 9,861 to women between the ages of 18 and 30 and 29,104 to women over the age of 30.
Preventive measures identified 106 cases of sexual violence, 234 cases of economic violence, 18,777 cases of psychological violence, 13,658 cases of physical violence and 7,174 cases of harassment.
Herewith, 34,330 cases, or 87 percent of reported cases of violence against women, were committed within the family.
26,667 protection orders were issued to women, 1,559 to mothers-in-law, 1,128 to brides and 9,989 to others.
In 20,769 cases, families have been reconciled, in 15,142 cases, complaints raised, in 921 cases, families have divorced, and in 2,222 cases, disputes had not been resolved.
