As of January 1, 2026, the average age of Uzbekistan’s population was 29.5 years, the National Statistics Committee reported.

The average age of the population by region is as follows:

  • Tashkent city — 32.7 years;
  • Bukhara region — 31.1 years;
  • Tashkent region — 31 years;
  • Navoi region — 30.1 years;
  • Fergana region — 30 years;
  • Republic of Karakalpakstan — 29.8 years;
  • Andijan region — 29.5 years;
  • Khorezm region — 29.5 years;
  • Namangan region — 29 years;
  • Syrdarya region — 28.7 years;
  • Samarkand region — 28.5 years;
  • Jizzakh region — 28.4 years;
  • Kashkadarya region — 27.7 years;
  • Surkhandarya region — 27.4 years.

For comparison, Uzbekistan’s average age is significantly lower than the global average of 30.9 years. Therefore, Uzbekistan is among the countries with the youngest populations in the world.

According to the Global Relocate project, countries with the youngest populations usually have high birth rates and relatively low life expectancy. The youngest country in the world is the Central African Republic, with an average age of 14.3 years, followed by Niger at 15.3 years and Somalia at 15.4 years.
