In the first five months of the current year, fires in Uzbekistan have killed 48 people and injured 82.  This was announced today, 14 June at a briefing at the IMCA (Information and Mass Communications Agency) by the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Olmas Muzaffarov.

It was noted that the number of fires in the country in the last 5 months compared to the same period last year has decreased by 567 (4,016 for the 5 months of 2021, 3,449 for the 5 months of 2022), and the number of casualties by 26 (108 for the 5 months of 2021, 82 in 5 months of 2022), the number of deaths by 8 (54 in 5 months of 2021, 48 for 5 months of 2022).

However, due to hot weather, fires caused by non-compliance with fire safety requirements are a cause for concern.  The fire situation intensified during the first weeks of May and June. The number of fires during this period amounted to 981, including 106 fires of dried plants, 665 residential fires, and 210 in other ways.

Analysis shows that in most cases, fires in residential areas are caused by air conditioning systems and refrigerators, as well as by the burning of dry grass.

To create comfortable conditions for people in such a hot time, it is natural to increase the use of various electrical appliances that cool the air, especially air conditioners.

However, the long-term negligent use of the air conditioner, non-compliance with the rules of electricity supply, the connection of several consumers to large power sources designed for only one electricity consumer, and the overheating of power cables cause short circuits of minus and plus wires, and result in massive fires.
