29339Twenty-seven sites promoting bookmaking services were blocked in Uzbekistan. Asadulla Kayumov, the Deputy Chairman of the Committee for the Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights, provided this information.
According to Kayumov, pop stars, sportsmen, and bloggers sent 11 letters to the Internal Affairs authorities regarding the advertising of betting and betting services on social networks. Furthermore, over 24,000 studies were conducted to assess the compliance of advertisements placed in mass media, the Internet, and social networks, as well as outdoor advertising media, with regulatory documents.
In more than 8,000 cases, various deficiencies were identified, and measures were taken to rectify them. Additionally, over 4,500 social media ads have been scrutinized in recent years, revealing 144 violations of the law on Facebook, 344 on Instagram, and 4,108 on Telegram.
The Ministry of Health received 150 appeals concerning the advertising of food supplements, ointments, balms, tinctures, healing, and mineral waters. Violations were detected and addressed in 103 cases.
"A total of over 24,000 studies were conducted to assess the compliance of advertisements placed (distributed) in media, the internet, and social networks, as well as outdoor advertising media, with legal documents. Out of the identified illegal advertisements, 308 were on television, 247 on radio, more than 19,000 on external advertising media, 236 in print publications, and over 4,500 on the internet and social networks. As a result of these studies (monitoring), various deficiencies were identified in more than 8,000 cases, and measures were swiftly taken to rectify them," stated Asadulla Kayumov.
Simultaneously, the committee, in collaboration with relevant agencies, assessed the compliance of more than 9,000 advertising objects with the state language rules. Over 3,000 of them (35 percent) did not meet the requirements. Remedial actions were implemented based on these findings.
We would like to remind you that, by the decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev dated April 6, 2022, titled "On amendments and additions to some documents of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan," bookmaking activities in Uzbekistan were officially prohibited. Additionally, access to more than 10 sites advertising totalizator and bookmaker activities in Uzbekistan was restricted.
