Uzbekistan to establish creative associations in 21 areas

Uzbekistan will establish creative associations in 21 areas, including theater, cinema, dance, opera, folklore, pop music, academic and national instrumental music, fine arts and applied arts. This was announced today, June 1, during President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s meeting with workers in the fields of culture and art.

According to the information, many creative professionals were interviewed during preparations for the meeting, and cultural and art facilities were visited on site.

The head of state said the purpose of the dialogue was to find solutions to problems in the sector and launch major initiatives that would create a new environment in literature, culture, art and the creative economy.

It was noted that a new system will be introduced to identify and support talent in the sector. In particular, creative associations will be established in 21 areas, including theater, cinema, dance, opera, folklore, pop music, academic and national instrumental music, fine arts and applied arts.

The creative associations will be co-chaired by experienced artists on one side and ministers and company executives on the other.

As part of this process, artists who have created their own schools will teach young people professional skills and stage culture.

Ministers and company executives, in turn, will work at the grassroots level, meeting with music schools and artistic groups in districts and helping find solutions to their problems. To bring new energy to youth creativity, competitions will be organized within each creative association at the mahalla, district, regional and national levels. Winners and prize-winners will be supported in participating in tours, festivals and international competitions.

Earlier, it was reported that a number of benefits would be provided to creative professionals in Uzbekistan who achieve the best results during the year. In particular, they will receive monthly royalties of 5 million soums throughout the year.
