Throughout 2025, a number of initiatives were implemented in Uzbekistan in the field of religious education. In particular, three new mosques and one non-Islamic religious organization in Navoi region were officially registered by the state. This was stated in the report of the Committee on Religious Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan on activities carried out in 2025.

According to the report, a total of 14 regulatory legal acts were adopted during the year, including two laws, two presidential decrees, five presidential resolutions, four resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers, and one departmental document. In cooperation with relevant institutions, 3,411 rebuttal materials were prepared to counter content promoting fanaticism, radical ideas, and extremism.

In addition, more than 170,000 religious and educational materials were disseminated via internet platforms. To further improve the activities of religious studies expertise, optimize workflows, and ensure more efficient use of staff time, artificial intelligence technologies were introduced into the expert examination process. A call center service was also established under the Fatwa Center to support compatriots living abroad.

According to the Committee, three new mosques were registered during the reporting period. Major reconstruction work was completed at 43 mosques, while renovation work was finalized at 15 others. In addition, one new religious organization — a Roman Catholic church — was officially registered in Navoi region.

For reference, Uzbekistan currently has 2,148 mosques and 199 non-Islamic religious organizations in operation nationwide.

It is worth noting that last year, the door covering of the sacred Kaaba, the Kiswah, was fully brought to Uzbekistan from Saudi Arabia.
