3502On February 17, Akmalkhodja Mavlonov, Chairman of the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan, was elected as the new Chairman of the Uzbekistan Athletics Federation. This announcement was made by the press service of the National Olympic Committee (NOC).
Before his election, the position was held by Bakhodir Siddikov, one of the senior officials at Uzbekneftegaz. Akmalkhodja Mavlonov will now take over the leadership of the Uzbekistan Athletics Federation.
It is worth noting that a few days prior, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his dissatisfaction with the country’s athletics performance, pointing out that despite having 48 athletics programs, Uzbekistan only secured 5 licenses at the last Olympics.
