14552The Republic of Uzbekistan welcomes the announcement of a two-month truce and a cease-fire in Yemen, mediated by the United Nations. This was given in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“We believe that a temporary moratorium on military action, as well as an insistence to uphold the legitimacy in that country, will create the necessary conditions for compromise towards comprehensive peace and stability in Yemen.
We call on all parties to show restraint and political will to settle the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy”, –the official statement says.
For reference, the parties to the conflict in Yemen agreed to the UN proposal and reached a two-month truce.
Speaking to the warring oppositions, UN Special Representative Hans Grundberg said that the national truce coincided with the beginning of Ramadan. It began at 19:00 pm local time on 1 April this year and was the first ceasefire since 2016.
