Alliance agreement between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan officially enacted

The Treaty on Alliance Relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan has officially come into force, according to the presidential press service.  

Today, March 31, following negotiations, the foreign policy heads of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, under the leadership of Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Emomali Rahmon, signed a protocol confirming the treaty's enforcement and exchanged ratification certificates.  

The treaty was originally signed on April 18 last year during a high-level bilateral summit in Dushanbe. It officially takes effect upon the exchange of ratification certificates.  

Earlier today, upon his arrival in Khujand, President Mirziyoyev held a meeting with President Rahmon. Additionally, an agreement on the point of contact of the state borders of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan is expected to be signed. The presidents will also attend a joint concert featuring performances by artists.
