A High Interstate Council was established between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan

Yesterday, on August 22, Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Ilhom Aliyev signed an agreement on the establishment of the Supreme Interstate Council between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.  This was reported by the Presidential Press Service.

It is said that after the high-level negotiations, there was a ceremony of signing bilateral documents.  In addition to the agreement on the establishment of the Supreme Interstate Council, 15 documents were adopted at the level of states, governments and agencies.

In 2023-2024, the “roadmap” for deepening comprehensive strategic partnership, agreements on deepening cooperation in the field of energy, cooperation in the fields of youth policy and sports, development of cooperation in the field of media  including the “road map”.

In addition, amendments and additions were made to the agreement on visa-free travel of citizens, introduction of the “Ye-permit” information system for electronic exchange of permit forms, cooperation in the field of family and children protection and food safety.  Agreements were reached and memoranda of cooperation in the field of cyber security were signed between the secretariats of the Security Councils.

It is noted that these documents serve to expand practical cooperation in a number of promising directions of relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

We remind you that earlier, within the framework of the state visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Azerbaijan, negotiations were held in a narrow and extended scope.
