Today, on 9 March, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank headed by the president of this prestigious financial institution, Jin Liqun.  This was reported by the Press Service under the President's Office.

It is noted that practical aspects of further expansion of multilateral partnerships were discussed at the meeting.

It is reported that the portfolio of cooperation between this bank and Uzbekistan has reached 2 billion dollars.  Important projects are being implemented in the transport, energy, agriculture, and utility sectors, and support for entrepreneurship.

President of the Asian Infrastructural Investment Bank Jin Liqun highly appreciated the program of irreversible reforms in New Uzbekistan and expressed his readiness to fully support it.

The Bank will fight against poverty and, first of all, create jobs in rural areas, introduce public-private partnership and mixed financing mechanisms for projects, expand support for entrepreneurship, and develop a strategic partnership with Uzbekistan in other important areas. Its aspiration for this was noted.

Also, the meeting paid special attention to issues of promoting strategically important infrastructure projects in the Central Asian region.  It was agreed on the development of a new medium-term Partnership program and "road map" aimed at accelerating the implementation of projects within the framework of large-scale cooperation and ensuring their effectiveness.
