Uzbekistan has designated a new ambassador to Saudi Arabia

4194The recently appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan, Nodirjon Turgunov, visited the Saudi Arabian capital, as reported by the "Dunyo" news agency.
Prior to this appointment, Turgunov held the position of consul general in Jeddah from 2021 to 2024. Aged 49, he graduated from the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies (now Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies).
His career trajectory includes roles as a school educator, translator in private entities, and service in the Council of Societies of Friendship and Cultural-Educational Relations of Uzbekistan with Foreign Countries.
Turgunov has been part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2016, with diverse roles within the Consular and Legal Department. He served as consul general in Oqtov (Kazakhstan) from 2019 to 2021 and in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) from 2021 to 2024.
Nodirjon Turgunov succeeded Ulugbek Maqsudov, who served as Uzbekistan's ambassador to Saudi Arabia and the permanent representative of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah from 2018 to 2024.
