Uzbekistan's Tourism Committee is eager to fully support joint tourism projects with Russia. Jamshid Abdusalomov, the first deputy chairman of the committee, emphasized this commitment at the "Travel" tourism forum held in Moscow.

"Russia and Uzbekistan possess significant untapped potential in tourism. We need to enhance our cooperation actively and on a larger scale. The Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan is prepared to back the tourism industries of both countries in implementing joint initiatives," he stated.

Abdusalomov also highlighted that tourism is considered a key economic driver in Uzbekistan, with unprecedented development measures being implemented under the guidance of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Earlier, during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Uzbekistan from May 26-28, a bilateral program aimed at increasing tourist flow for 2025-2026 and a roadmap for expanding tourism cooperation were signed. Experts predict that these agreements will boost mutual tourist numbers by 40%, reaching 2 million visitors per year by 2027.

Currently, Russian tourists rank fourth in terms of visits to Uzbekistan, following those from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan. In 2023, 714,200 tourists from Russia visited Uzbekistan, marking a 25.8% increase from 2022.
