New Members join SCO Under Chairmanship of Uzbekistan - Mirziyoyev

More than 40 agreements and decisions have been prepared for the signing of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization under the chairmanship of Uzbekistan.  This was stated today, 16 September, by Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his speech at the opening of the Council of Heads of State.

“This summit is a historic event. This is an opportunity to make joint decisions that will determine the future of the organization and the fate of the SCO region”, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

He noted that during the Uzbek chairmanship of the Organization a package of documents had been prepared for signatures containing concepts and programs in the fields of mutual cooperation, industrial cooperation, green economy, digitalization and trade.

"New members - observers and dialogue partners - are admitted to the large SCO family.  This is an opportunity to radically expand multilateral cooperation in Eurasia», - said the president of Uzbekistan.

It was noted that more than 80 major events were held under the chairmanship of Uzbekistan. Despite the pandemic and other challenges, all areas and areas of comprehensive cooperation have been covered.

President of Kazakhstan Tokayev, Prime Minister of India Modi, Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, President of Kyrgyzstan Japarov, Prime Minister of Pakistan Sharif, President of Russia Putin and President of Tajikistan Rakhmon also addressed the meeting.
