Uzbekistan sets new record for gold sales

From January to August this year, Uzbekistan exported gold worth $8.42 billion, according to the National Statistics Committee.
During the first eight months of 2025, the total value of Uzbekistan’s exports reached $22.98 billion, with gold accounting for $8.42 billion, or 36.7 percent of that amount. This is the highest figure recorded in the country’s history.
For comparison, during the same period in 2024, gold exports stood at $4.98 billion. By the end of 2023, the figure had risen sharply to $8.1 billion. In both 2021 and 2022, gold exports were valued at around $4.1 billion. In 2020, the figure was $5.8 billion, in 2019 it was $4.9 billion, and in 2018 it was $2.9 billion.
As of September 1, 2025, Uzbekistan’s gold and foreign exchange reserves reached $50.1 billion for the first time, with more than $40 billion of this amount held in gold. The country’s reserves include 11.8 million ounces (334.5 tons) of gold.
It is worth noting that it was previously reported that Uzbekistan’s gold and foreign exchange reserves had exceeded $48 billion for the first time in history.
