Legendary maqom performer Nafisa Tukhtaeva passes away

11353Tashkent, Uzbekistan – People's Artist of Uzbekistan and renowned maqom performer Nafisa Tukhtaeva has passed away at the age of 83, the Ministry of Culture reported.
Tukhtaeva was a singer at the State Philharmonic of Uzbekistan and a member of the Yunus Rajabiy "Maqom" ensemble. Throughout her career, she recorded over 50 classical music pieces in the "Golden Fund", preserving Uzbekistan’s rich musical heritage.
Her renditions of traditional songs such as "Sarakhbori Oromijon", "Qashqachai Savti Sabo", and "Ey Nazokat" were beloved by audiences and contributed to her lasting legacy.
This news follows the recent passing of Zulfiya Prize laureate and pop singer Shirin Abdullaeva, who tragically died at the age of 19.
