Uzbekistan delivered electricity produced from Turkmen gas to Kyrgyzstan

8571Uzbekistan delivered electricity that was produced using Turkmen gas to Kyrgyzstan. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy.
According to the protocol signed between the Ministry of Energy and Industry of Kyrgyzstan and the Ministry of Energy and Water Management of Uzbekistan on 11 March 2021, the mutual supply of electricity is carried out on the basis of approved schedules.
Taking into account the lack of water in the Central Asian region, in order to prevent the Tokhtagul reservoir from falling to a critical level, according to the agreements, electricity produced from Turkmenistan’s gas was delivered to Kyrgyzstan.
In accordance with the agreements based on the contract, the transit of electricity from Turkmenistan to Kyrgyzstan through the energy system of Uzbekistan, is carried out based on the capabilities of the energy systems.
Relevant contracts aimed at ensuring the transit of Turkmenistan electricity in 2023 were signed between the business entities of the parties.
“Cooperation between the energy ministries and energy enterprises of the two countries is being implemented on the basis of mutual respect and the principles of consistency of an energy system operation mode,” the ministry said in a statement.
