Kamchybek Tashiev, Chairman of Kyrgyzstan’s State Committee for National Security and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, unveiled the exact point where the borders of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan meet. He announced during a joint session of six committees of the Jogorku Kenesh on March 19.

Tashiev explained that trilateral negotiations to determine the intersection point began in 2007. So far, government delegations have held six meetings on the matter.

“The parties could not come to a consensus on defining the border intersection point. However, after the Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan border agreement was signed in March 2025, a trilateral meeting was held in Dushanbe. During this meeting, the three countries reached an agreement and identified the border intersection point,” Tashiev said.

He displayed the location on a map, stating, “The intersection point of the three borders is marked in blue. Previously, Uzbekistan had proposed a location marked in green, while Tajikistan suggested a location marked in red. If we had agreed to these suggestions, all routes would have remained outside our country. As a result, approximately 100 hectares of land remained within Kyrgyzstan. This is our success. While no population resides in this area, it is our land, and our road passes through it,” Tashiev explained.

Earlier, Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon announced during a joint statement with Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov in Bishkek that a treaty concerning the intersection of the three nations' borders would be signed. The signing is scheduled for March 31 in the city of Khujand, where the leaders of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan will also celebrate Navruz together.
