Three Turkish citizens, who were on the international wanted list for committing a robbery in Uzbekistan, have been detained in Kazakhstan, the Kazakh Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
According to authorities, the robbery took place in Tashkent. The suspects, wearing masks, attempted to hijack a car. However, the victims actively resisted, forcing the perpetrators to abandon their plan and flee the scene.
Following the attack, law enforcement agencies tracked the suspects' movements. Two of them escaped to the Atyrau region, while the third hid in southern Kazakhstan.
“As a result of urgent measures taken, all three criminals were detained and placed in temporary detention centers,” the statement said.
It should be recalled that earlier, Timur Sadvakasov, the former deputy mayor of the Kazakh city of Aktau, who was also on the international wanted list, was detained in Uzbekistan. Sadvakasov had illegally crossed the Kazakh-Kyrgyz border before secretly entering Uzbekistan, where he was apprehended by border authorities. He is currently under investigation in Kazakhstan for corruption-related crimes.
