Shavkat Ayupov becomes the new president of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan

On December 16, a general meeting was held at the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan to elect the institution's new president. According to UzA, academician Shavkat Abdullayevich Ayupov was elected to the position.

Shavkat Ayupov, born in 1952, is a prominent scholar and a doctor of physical and mathematical sciences. He is also a member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis. In recognition of his significant contributions, Ayupov was awarded the honorary title of Hero of Uzbekistan in 2021.

The new president succeeded the late Behzod Sodiqovich Yuldoshev, who was a doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, professor, and academician. Yuldoshev, who had served as the president of the Academy of Sciences, passed away on August 28 at the age of 79.

The election of Shavkat Ayupov is seen as a pivotal moment for the Academy of Sciences, as it continues to play a crucial role in advancing scientific research and innovation in Uzbekistan.
