Senator and national hero Azim Latipov passes away

Today, June 6, Azim Latipov, a member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and Hero of Uzbekistan, passed away at the age of 74. The news was confirmed by the administration of Shofirkan district.
Azim Latipov was born on June 6, 1951, in Shofirkan district, Bukhara region. He began his career in 1971 as a livestock mechanic on a collective farm. Throughout his life, he worked in the fields of cotton and grain cultivation, as well as livestock breeding in the Bukhara region. He was also known for his contributions to agriculture, including the restoration of old melon varieties and efforts to increase productivity.
From 1996 to 2007, Latipov worked as a member of a collective farm in Bukhara. In recognition of his outstanding achievements, he was awarded the "Medal of Glory" in 1996 and the honorary title "Hero of Uzbekistan" in 2002.
He was elected to the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan three times. Between 2004 and 2019, he served as a member of the Senate Committee on Agrarian, Water Issues, and Ecology. Since 2004, he also served as a deputy of the Bukhara Regional Council of People's Deputies.
It is worth noting that earlier, another Hero of Uzbekistan, the prominent farmer from Surkhandarya region Ahmad Narzullaev, passed away at the age of 68.
