Uzbekistan joins the Convention on the protection of workers from occupational hazards

The draft law "On the ratification of Convention No. 148 of the International Labor Organization concerning the protection of workers from occupational hazards caused by air pollution, noise and vibration at work (Geneva, June 20, 1977)" was announced for discussion.

ILO (International Labor Organization) Convention No. 148 was adopted on 1 June 1977, at the 63rd session of the general conference of the International Labor Organization and came into force on 20 June 1977.  ILO Convention No. 148 consists of a preamble and 24 articles.  The original text of the Convention was adopted in English and French.

Ratification of ILO Convention No. 148:

• serves to further improve national legislation, in particular, effective implementation of international standards on prevention, detection, and elimination of occupational hazards caused by air pollution, noise, and vibration in the workplace, established by the documents of the International Labor Organization (ILO);

• helps to form a positive image of Uzbekistan in relations with international and regional organizations;

• causes that the United Nations Convention Control Bodies, the Committee of Experts on the application of Conventions and recommendations of the International Labor Organization, and other structures of the International Labor Organization do not express critical opinions about the Republic;

• It ensures the creation of conditions for future integration of the Republic of Uzbekistan into international and regional organizations, including the World Trade Organization, and further development of cooperation with the European Union within the general (main) system of preferences.
