Uzbekistan's science has suffered a severe division

Abdumavlon Abdullayevich Abdullayev, a leading figure in the field of genetics in Uzbekistan, and academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan died yesterday, 8 December at the age of 92.  In this regard, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Chairman of the Senate Tanzila Norboyeva, Chairman of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis Nurdinjon Ismailov, Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov expressed their condolences.

Abdumavlon Abdullayev was born on 13 July 1930 in Namangan region.  In 1952, after graduating from the Central Asian State University, he started working as a junior researcher at the Central Asian Experimental Station of the Scientific Research Institute of Plant Science.  In 1961 he defended his candidacy, and in 1973 he defended his doctoral thesis.  In 1995, he was elected a full member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The talented scientist worked selflessly at the Academy of Sciences during his nearly 70-year scientific career.  He worked effectively as a junior and senior researcher, head of the laboratory, director of the Institute of Genetics and Experimental Biology of Plants, chairman of the Department of Agricultural Sciences of the Presidium of the UzRFA, and until the last days of his life as the chief scientist of the institute. -made a worthy contribution to the development of science.

During his scientific career, Abdumavlon Abdullayev made a great contribution to the development of the fundamental principles of cotton genetics.  Several new varieties of cotton were discovered based on the scientific school created by the scientist, and an opportunity was created to use wild types of cotton as useful donors in genetic selection.  Our country is one of the founders of the collection of cotton genes, which is the fundamental basis of the development of cotton science and a national treasure.

He is the author of more than 600 scientific works, including more than 10 monographs.  More than 300 of his scientific articles have been published in prestigious international journals.

More than 20 doctors of science and about 40 candidates in science were prepared under the direct guidance of the hard-working scientist, who taught many young people the secrets of science as a mentor.

Academician A.Abdullayev's services to the development of science in our country were duly awarded by our state.  He was awarded the "Honored Scientist of Uzbekistan" (1980), the "Labor Glory" Order (2003), and the "State Prize of the Republic of Uzbekistan" (2011).

"The memory of Abdumavlon Abdullayev, a famous scientist, a kind teacher, and a humble person, will always be preserved in our hearts," said the President's condolences.
