3058Uzbekistan has forged diplomatic ties with Gambia, a West African nation, with the signing of a Joint Communiqué on March 14 in New York, USA, as reported by the "Dunyo" news agency.
Representing their respective governments, Ulugbek Lapasov, the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN, and Lamine Dibba, the Permanent Representative of Gambia to the UN, sealed the agreement.
Both parties expressed eagerness to enhance collaboration within international forums such as the UN and its affiliated bodies, aiming to identify mutually advantageous areas for bilateral cooperation.
With this development, Gambia becomes the 148th nation to establish diplomatic relations with Uzbekistan.
It's worth noting that just over a week prior, on March 6, a similar Joint Communiqué was signed in New York, solidifying diplomatic ties between Uzbekistan and Belize, a Central American country.
