Uzbekistan rises in FIFA rankings

Spain has overtaken Argentina to become the new leader in the FIFA rankings, while Uzbekistan has also improved its position. The updated rankings of national teams were published by FIFA.
According to the new list, the Uzbekistan national team climbed one spot to take 54th place. Within Asia, Uzbekistan ranks 6th, behind Qatar (53), Australia (25), South Korea (23), Iran (21), and Japan (19). Currently, Uzbekistan has accumulated 1,453.31 points, while Qatar, just one place higher, has 1,453.65 points.
In Central Asia, Uzbekistan leads the regional standings. The following positions are held by:
- Tajikistan – 102
- Kyrgyzstan – 106
- Kazakhstan – 118
- Turkmenistan – 138

Earlier, it was reported that the Uzbekistan national team, preparing for the FIFA World Cup, will play a friendly match against Uruguay on October 13 of this year. At present, the South American side ranks 15th in the FIFA rankings.
